It is spring, and that means weather that can be difficult to predict. Sometimes it’s warm and sunny, then within a few moments it’s rainy and cold. We in Seattle recently had a day where we saw rain, snow, sleet, hail, and sun. Sure complaining about the weather is easy, but being prepared for it is less annoying- so I recommend trying the later.
More often than not, when I suspect rain will make an appearance I grab my toggle coat and duck boots. In this shoot, I layered a cotton sweater over an oxford cloth button down, paired them with khaki chinos and a repp tie.
Because it’s spring, adding a touch of color feels right. A pink shirt works here, and the tie has white and red stripes that pick up on that. Khakis are versatile, and go with just about everything, as does the navy from the coat and boots.
I picked this tote bag up form a thrift store for literally pennies, and use it for work or school papers, and for stuffing a jacket or sweater in should the weather change
When layering, you want pieces to work together without being dependent on one another. By keeping colors in the same family, and wearing versatile pieces, I can mix, match, or remove any piece from this outfit and still feel good about it.
Thank you as always to Amanda for the great photos. Take care folks, and thanks for reading.
